ISLAMABAD: In a bid to extend the maximum facilities to passengers, the Pakistan Railways is planning to increase the number of Eid Special trains this year.
“This year we are planning to ply more than 23 trains on Eid-ul-Fitr for which a comprehensive advertisement campaign will be launched to make the passengers aware,” an official at the Pakistan Railways headquarters told APP.
From July 11 to 16, one train each from Karachi to Lahore and Lahore to Karachi will run daily while on July 15 one train each from Quetta to Rawalpindi and Karachi to Peshawar and on July 17 one train each from Rawalpindi to Multan and Peshawar to Lahore will run.
On July 20, one train from Multan to Karachi will run and from July 20 to 22 one train each will run from Karachi to Lahore and Lahore to Karachi daily. Last year, he said, Pakistan Railways had run 14 Eid special trains to accommodate the maximum number of passengers who belonged to far-flung areas and wanted to celebrate Eid with their near and dear ones. He said that the trains were likely to run from Quetta, Rawalpindi, Karachi, Lahore and Peshawar, adding that this move would also enable the railways to generate extra income. “Pakistan Railways had taken several steps to facilitate the passengers as railways is a cheaper mode of transportation for general public,” the official added.
