ABBOTTABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is likely to return to Islamabad today (Monday) after staying at Dunga Gali in Abbottabad since Thursday.

He was expected to hold a meeting with Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz president Nawaz Sharif and Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz on political matters before his departure.

According to sources, a consultative meeting was anticipated in Dunga Gali to deliberate on the country’s evolving political landscape. The prime minister and Hamza Shehbaz had already been in Dunga Gali for the past three days.

The prime minister is staying at his personal residence in Dunga Gali. The PMLN sources said the visit was entirely private and had no official agenda.

However, other sources claimed that the visit had political objectives, including decisions related to the Senate elections scheduled for Monday, the prevailing political situation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and other pressing matters.

The Senate elections are seen as critical to shaping the balance of power in the upper house of parliament.

The convergence of the PMLN’s top leadership in the scenic hill station has drawn attention from political analysts, underlining the significance of the upcoming vote and the party’s internal decision-making process.

A heavy deployment of security personnel, including contingents from Islamabad, Punjab, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police, was reported along routes leading from Murree to Dunga Gali to ensure security.
