90 petty offenders released

District and Sessions Judge on Monday ordered the release of 90 inmates involved in petty offences during his visit to the Central and Camp Jails ahead of Eid-ul-Fitr.

He gave this relief to the under-trial prisoners on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr. District & Sessions Judge Nazir Ahmad Ganjana along with Judicial Officer Malik Rehmat had visited Central and District Jail, Lahore.

 

Interviews 

Chief Secretary Capt (r) Zahid Saeed interviewed eight shortlisted candidates for the post of the chairman of the Board of Intermediate & Secondary Education (BISE) Lahore on Monday.

A panel comprising three shortlisted candidates would soon be sent to Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif for subsequent approval of a suitable candidate from the panel. Sources said those who were interviewed included Fazal Abbass, Mahmood Javed, Dr Amna Imam, Altaf Hussain, Muhammad Ismael, Dr Abdul Hameed, Dr Farrukh Malik and Dr Tayyaba Shaheen.  —Correspondent
