Delayed dues
The prolonged and unlawful non-payment of retirement benefits to the retired employees of the Karachi Development Authority (KDA) is a matter of great concern. These individuals devoted their lives to the development and administration of Karachi, serving the city and the public for decades with loyalty and perseverance. Now, in the twilight of their lives, they are met with bureaucratic indifference, forced to plead for the very dues they rightfully earned.
Many have tragically passed away unpaid, unrewarded and unrecognised. From a legal standpoint, the withholding or unreasonable delay in disbursement of retirement dues is a gross rights violation. I therefore make a humble but firm appeal to the provincial and local authorities to immediately release all pending retirement dues to KDA employees and initiate disciplinary action against those responsible for the delay.
