Mosquito menace
June 26, 2025
With the onset of the monsoon season and increased rainfall, stagnant water becomes a prime breeding ground for Aedes mosquitoes — the carriers of the dengue virus. In our country, poor ventilation, high temperatures and frequent power outages lead many to sleep outdoors, increasing the risk of mosquito bites and viral transmission.
Already burdened by seasonal illnesses, the healthcare system may struggle with an added dengue outbreak. Timely vector control is essential to break the chain of transmission and safeguard public health. Both residents and government bodies must act proactively to eliminate breeding sites and raise awareness to prevent a potential health crisis.
