Road rot
The worsening condition of infrastructure in and around Lahore, especially in areas along GT Road such as Shadara, Muridke and Kamoke, is putting the lives of thousands at risk every day. In these areas, most roads are either damaged, full of potholes or left half-repaired for months. During rainy weather, waterlogging makes these roads even more dangerous, increasing the chances of accidents. Despite repeated complaints, no action seems to have been taken by local authorities. In areas like Malik Bazar Stop and THQ Stop (Muridke), the traffic situation is extremely poor. There are no traffic rules being followed at all. Vehicles come from every direction without any order and there are no traffic police, signals or proper road guidance.
This creates confusion and increases the chances of accidents. These stops are always overcrowded and people, especially students and elderly pedestrians, face great difficulty in crossing roads safely. We, as responsible citizens, urge the government and relevant authorities to take urgent action. Road repairs must be completed, waste management needs to be regular and proper traffic infrastructure should be introduced, especially at accident-prone stops.
