Maryam inspects uplift projects in Lahore
Maryam visits overhead bridge being built on Walton Road and inspected newly-constructed Route 47
LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz made a surprise visit to Lahore city early on Monday and reviewed progress on development projects.
She visited the overhead bridge being built on the Walton Road and inspected the newly-constructed Route 47.
The CBD Route 47 has been made functional for traffic. Route 47 is over four and a half kilometers long and comprises three lanes equipped with the latest infrastructure. This route, which links Kalma Chowk to Walton, has been attributed to the freedom struggle of 1947. Travelling from Gulberg to Walton via CBD Route 47 will be possible in a few minutes. There is also a lane allocated for cyclists stretching over about 2.5 kilometers. Walkways have also been allocated for pedestrians and cyclists on the Walton Railway Crossing Flyover. Solar panels (912 megawatts) on the Walton Railway Crossing Flyover will be able to generate one megawatt of electricity.
An artificial lake has been set up along the route to store five million gallons of rainwater, fountains, and aeration systems have also been installed for beautification purposes. Various monuments have been installed to highlight the identity of the Route 47 highway.
Speaking on the occasion, Maryam said: “Route 47 is another significant milestone towards attaining a bright andsustainable future of Punjab. It is not just a road, but it highlights a new chapter of smart development in Punjab.”
Message: The chief minister, in her message on the International Widows Day, has said the religion of Islam has persuaded its followers to give due respect to widows. She highlighted: “Widows are a collective responsibility of a civilized society. Women who have become widows during wars in Kashmir, Gaza and Iran are a big question mark on the global conscience. The Punjab government is not only providing sympathy to widows but due care and support as well. Widows or single mothers are being given foremost priority in the Apni Chhat, Apna Ghar program. Children of widows are also being given priority while granting Honhaar scholarships. The Women Protection Authority and the Social Welfare Department are ensuring due care to widows across Punjab.”
