Acting on intelligence-based information, the Sindh Rangers and police conducted a joint operation in Saudabad and near the Karachi airport, resulting in the arrest of “two most-wanted suspects”, Shehab Khan, alias Kara, and Mansoor Alam, alias Charkat, who are reportedly affiliated with the Muttahida Qaumi Movement-London (MQM-L).
According to the Rangers spokesperson, the arrested men had been involved in drug trafficking, robberies and multiple street crimes. The law enforcers allegedly recovered an auto-rickshaw, two mobile phones and cash from them.
Both suspects are “habitual offenders”, and have allegedly been arrested several times by police and the security forces. During the preliminary interrogation, Alam allegedly admitted to being involved in wall-chalking, putting up political banners, and collecting donations and Fitra for his party.
The spokesperson claimed that to avoid arrest during the Karachi operation, he began working as a rickshaw driver. The suspect allegedly revealed that he used his rickshaw to transport gutka, mawa and other narcotics across the city.
Khan allegedly admitted to working as a controller at a private factory while engaging in part-time street crimes. He also has a criminal history, and has served time in jail on multiple occasions, according to the spokesperson.
The two suspects allegedly admitted to committing numerous street crimes in Malir, Shah Faisal Colony, Landhi and Korangi, and also admitted to being involved in armed robberies at three private dairy shops.
According to their alleged confession, they looted over Rs400,000 and 40 to 50 mobile phones during various street crime and robbery incidents. The suspects have been handed over to police for further legal proceedings, along with the recovered items.
