PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Secretary Shahab Ali Shah on Monday chaired the weekly review meeting to evaluate the progress of ongoing governance initiatives.
An official handout said that administrative secretaries and relevant officials from across the province attended the meeting.The meeting discussed the notification of the Steering Committee for the Peshawar-Dera Ismail Khan Motorway.
The chief secretary directed departments to ensure smooth coordination to move the project forward.A detailed analysis of essential food commodity prices was also presented.
The meeting was informed that recent directives from the chief secretary had resulted in improved price control measures.The chief secretary instructed officials to maintain strict oversight of supply chains to prevent price hikes.
The meeting reviewed the province’s development portfolio.The chief secretary emphasized prioritizing projects nearing completion in order to maximize public service delivery and ensure early benefits to the population.
In a move to boost investment, the meeting was informed that a “pitch book” featuring 30 key investment projects would be launched this week. This initiative was aimed at attracting domestic and foreign investors and promoting public-private partnerships in priority sectors.
The chief secretary was briefed on the Peshawar Beautification Plan, which has officially commenced. The plan focuses on urban landscaping, design, and expansion of green spaces to improve the city’s environment and aesthetics.
Tourism authorities were directed to present comprehensive solid waste management plans for all tourist destinations, focusing on environmental protection and sanitation.The meeting was informed that in line with government directives, 73 hotels and restaurants in tourism areas had already upgraded their drainage and sewerage systems during the past week.
The Land Use and Building Control Authority has been operationalized to enforce urban planning and building control standards effectively.Highlighting transparency and efficiency, the chief secretary announced that the roll-out conference of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Good Governance Roadmap would be held this week. He noted that digitization remains central to the reform agenda, particularly in project and procurement systems.
The E-PADS (E-Pak Acquisition and Disposal System) was reported to be showing significant results. So far, 3,014 tenders have been uploaded on the system, and 199 contracts have been awarded, demonstrating transparency and efficiency in public procurement.
