11 FIA officials suspended over Lesco corruption charges
Suspensions come after findings from two inquiry reports highlight collusion between FIA personnel and LESCO officials
LAHORE: In a major crackdown on corruption, Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has suspended 11 officials, including inspectors and sub-inspectors, from its Lahore Zone.
The suspensions came after findings from two inquiry reports highlighting collusion between FIA personnel and the officials of Lahore Electric Supply Company (LESCO).
The suspensions were recommended in the reports titled “Inquiry Report on Issues Related to LESCO” under Shahid Khan, former Federal Secretary, and “Inquiry Report: Corrupt Practices – Connivance of LESCO & FIA Officials” chaired by Sohail Habib Tajik, Additional Secretary (Admin), Ministry of Interior and Narcotics Control.
Acting on the directives received from the Ministry on April 21 and April 29, FIA issued orders for immediate suspension and transfer of said officers from ACC FIA Lahore to FIA Headquarters Islamabad until further notice.
The order, signed by Additional Director HRM Syed Ali Akbar Shah, was issued with approval of Director General FIA. It reflects the agency’s commitment to internal accountability and zero-tolerance for misconduct and corruption.
The development follows mounting pressure for transparency and institutional reforms in energy and enforcement sectors amid public outcry over corruption.
