PESHAWAR: The Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) on Saturday ordered the superintendent of police investigation and district public prosecutor to ensure the presence of witnesses along with case property in upcoming hearings of the Radio Pakistan and Provincial Election Commission office attack cases in order to ensure progress in the trials.
The ATC issued two separate notices where it stated that in Case No. 221 and Case No. 222, the prosecution has repeatedly failed to present the witnesses and case property despite several notices.
The letters further said that due to the non-appearance of witnesses and case material, the hearings have been repeatedly postponed, which is causing delays in the judicial proceedings. The court emphasised that the witnesses and case property must be produced in the upcoming hearings to allow progress in the cases. The next hearings have been scheduled for June 25 and 26.
Meanwhile, in the Radio Pakistan attack case, the ATC has also summoned all eyewitnesses present at the scene by issuing notices for appearance on June 26. ATC Judge Wali Muhammad conducted the hearing.According to the prosecution, on May 9, angry protesters attacked the Radio Pakistan building in Peshawar, set the building on fire, and caused damage to government property.
