IGP vows foolproof security in Muharram
MANSEHRA: Inspector General of Police Zulfiqar Hameed on Friday said that heavy police deployment would be ensured to maintain law and order across the province during Muharram.
“I have directed all deputy inspectors general (DIGs) and district police officers (DPOs) across the province to ensure foolproof security during Muharram. Extra personnel will be deployed in sensitive and most sensitive areas throughout KP,” the IGP told a ceremony after launching several projects under the Security Fortification Drive here.
The DIG Hazara Nasir Mehmood Satti and DPO Mansehra Shafiullah Khan Gandapur received the IGP at the Saddar Police Station.
Hameed said the police department was taking all possible precautionary measures to ensure a peaceful Muharram.
“We have already initiated steps to curb hate speech and promote peace and harmony across the province during the holy month,” he added.
The IGP also directed police officials to ensure the security of Chinese engineers and workers engaged in development and energy projects in different parts of Hazara division.
“We appreciate the services of Chinese nationals for the development and prosperity of our country, and we are committed to ensuring their safety at all costs,” he said.
He further instructed police to provide foolproof security to both local and international tourists visiting Kaghan Valley and other areas of Hazara division.
During the visit, DIG Hazara briefed the IGP on the security arrangements in place to safeguard Chinese nationals and energy projects underway in the division.
Earlier, the IGP inaugurated boundary walls at Police Lines and Pulrah Police Station, ten newly constructed watch towers at various police stations under the Security Fortification Drive 2025, and visited the ladies’ reporting room, investigation office, and barracks.
