SBP to conduct yoga classes for young athletes’ mothers
LAHORE : Setting a healthy tradition, Sports Board Punjab (SBP) will conduct special yoga sessions for the mothers of young athletes during upcoming summer sports camps of 14
games which are scheduled to get underway at different venues of Nishtar Park Sports Complex (NPSC) from June 24, 2025.
Elaborating the objective of special yoga sessions for the mothers, DG Sports and Youth Affairs Khizar Afzaal said that there are multiple purposes behind the yoga classes for mothers.
These sessions have been designed to convert the leisure time of mothers during summer camps into a useful healthy activity.
Besides this, the yoga sessions will help a lot in improving the health and fitness of young athletes’ mothers, he added.
He said that the upcoming summer sports camps will help a lot in the promotion of sports culture among the younger generation.
“A large number of male and female athletes have already completed their registration process for these camps”.
He further said that the summer sports camps will be organised in all districts of the province till August 7.
“Expert coaches will train the participants of camps and in this regard, the coaches have been given key responsibilities for various sports disciplines”.
He said that the summer camps will be conducted in swimming, tennis, table tennis, badminton, football, hockey, taekwondo, boxing, wushu, athletics, archery, cricket, squash and yoga.
“Punjab Sports Department is taking effective measures for the development of sports passion among the youth of the province in accordance with the vision of Punjab Chief Minister”.
Medics honoured for serving in CM Summer Games
The appreciation certificates were awarded to 73 doctors and physiotherapists for their dedicated service during the recently-concluded Chief Minister Punjab Summer Games.
The recognition ceremony was held at the National Hockey Stadium on Friday.
The event was attended by Director Admin Dr M Kaleem, Director Sports Rana Nadeem Anjum and other senior officials.
Praising the medical team’s contribution, DG Sports and Youth Affairs Punjab Khizar Afzaal Chaudhry commended their role in ensuring athletes remained in peak physical condition throughout the high-stakes event.
“All the physiotherapists have done excellent work. They provided immediate relief to players and managed injury cases efficiently,” he stated.
Led by Dr Ammar Hameed, the physiotherapists and medical support team was instrumental in maintaining player fitness and performance across multiple disciplines during the games.
He highlighted the importance of sports medicine professionals in modern athletic competitions, adding that their timely interventions helped minimise downtime and kept athletes competitive throughout the tournament.
