Karachi police chief Additional IG Javed Alam Odho on Wednesday chaired a monthly crime review meeting at the Karachi Police Office (KPO), where CIA DIG Muqadas Haider gave a briefing on important cases in the city, including extortion and other serious crimes.
The meeting was also attended by the Karachi Range DIGs, and DIGs of investigation and traffic and other senior officers. Officials said the DIGs of the three ranges of Karachi, i.e. East, West and South, presented performance reports of their respective zones, which covered crime rate, police measures, progress in cases and challenges.
During the meeting, Additional IG Odho, said effective prosecution of cases and progress in the courts should be further improved. He reiterated the city police commitment to eradicating crime and providing a safe environment to the citizens as a top priority.
Later, he attended a ceremony at the Karachi Police Office to issue appointment orders to the personnel recruited under the martyrs’ quota.
The DIG Admin, ADIG Admin and other senior officers were also present on the occasion. Addressing the ceremony, Additional IG Odho paid tribute to the sacrifices of the martyrs and said it is because of these great sacrifices that peace has prevailed in the city today.
He congratulated the recruited youth and expressed the hope that they would perform their duties with honesty, spirit of service and sense of duty. At the end of the ceremony, a total of 20 personnel were given appointment orders, including two assistant sub-inspectors and two lady police constables. All the selected personnel were wished a bright future.
