IHC stops auction of Bahria Town’s property
Court was told that Bahria Town is neither party, nor an accused, nor an absconder in £190 million NAB case
ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Thursday issued a stay order in the case against NAB’s move to auction Bahria Town properties.
In the order issued by the division bench comprising Acting Chief Justice Sarfraz Dogar and Justice Muhammad Asif on the petition of Bahria Town, the court ordered not to take any disciplinary action against Bahria Town and said that the court was told that Bahria Town is a private limited company which is associated with the construction sector.
The court was told that Bahria Town is neither a party, nor an accused, nor an absconder in the £190 million NAB case. It said that according to the petitioner, NAB nevertheless seized Bahria Town’s properties. After the court’s stay order, the court issued notices to NAB and other parties and sought their replies. The hearing of the case was adjourned indefinitely. NAB had issued an advertisement to auction Bahria Town’s properties on June 12.
