LAHORE:Home Secretary Punjab Dr Ahmed Javed Qazi presided over a key meeting at the department to review security arrangements for the upcoming month of Muharram. Addressing the participants, Dr Qazi said that the home department's internal security wing is actively mobilising law enforcement agencies across Punjab to ensure public safety.

The home secretary informed that the sub-committee of the Cabinet on Law & Order will soon visit all divisional headquarters to inspect preparations. He added that gagging and banning orders will be issued against the individuals posing a threat to peace and tranquility. To ensure the peaceful observance of Muharram, the home department is issuing a comprehensive standard operating procedure along with critical guidelines. Dr Qazi also announced setting up of a central control room dedicated to monitoring Muharram-related security. ‘There will be zero tolerance for any negligence in protecting the lives and property of citizens,’ he added, directing officials to finalise all security measures ahead of Muharram.
