Finance Bill 2025 presented in Senate amid opposition’s protest
PTI Senators chanted slogans such as “Farmers’ murder unacceptable” and “Workers’ murder unacceptable”
ISLAMABAD: Finance Minister Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb laid the copy of the annual Finance Bill 2025 in the Senate, amid strong protest from opposition members, particularly Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Senators.
PTI Senators chanted slogans such as “Farmers’ murder unacceptable” and “Workers’ murder unacceptable.”
The Senate session started with a delay of one hour and thirty minutes. At the outset, the House offered Fateha for the late ex-Senator Abbas Afridi as well as for the martyrs of law enforcement agencies, and for those who lost their lives in Gaza.
The session also included the presentation and approval of the Senate Standing Committee on Finance’s recommendations on the amendments to the Income Tax Ordinance under the Finance Bill 2025.
Following its formal introduction, the chairman referred the Finance Bill to the Senate Standing Committee on Finance, which has been tasked with preparing its recommendations within ten days.
Senators have been asked to submit their individual proposals within three days. The Senate session was adjourned until Friday at 10:30 a.m.
