PESHAWAR: Advisor to Chief Minister on Information and Public Relations Barrister Dr Muhammad Ali Saif on Tuesday said that Kissan Ittehad had exposed the false claims of the ‘fake’ federal government, particularly in Punjab, regarding agricultural development.

“The form 47 government’s anti-farmer policies have led to a huge decline in agricultural production, with wheat production decreasing by 8.91percent, cotton by 34 percent and maize by 15.4 percent,” he claimed, adding, the food import bill for the first 10 months of the current fiscal year had reached $7 billion, which was alarming for the national economy.

The advisor to chief minister said that agriculture was the backbone of the national economy, but the ‘fake’ government was crushing this backbone while making false claims of development.

He pointed out that anti-farmer elements were still occupying key positions in the federal and Punjab governments, and Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz was not paying attention to the plight of farmers.

Dr Saif praised the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Khan Gandapur for purchasing wheat from Punjab farmers last year, which helped mitigate the crisis. He criticised Maryam Nawaz for her “TikToker antics” while pursuing anti-farmer policies, which would have severe consequences for the entire country.

The advisor demanded that the “TikToker chief minister” stop making false claims and provide genuine relief to farmers, emphasising that weakening farmers was equivalent to weakening the country.
