Disturbing tragedy
Last week, it was reported that the body of a one-year-old girl who had gone missing in Rawalpindi had been recovered from a sewage line. Shockingly, the girl was allegedly murdered and the accused is a 10-year-old boy. This tragic event not only reveals significant failures in child safety and supervision but also raises serious concerns about the mental and emotional health of children in our country. This situation highlights the critical need for psychological support, emotional education, and heightened awareness within families and schools.
It is also essential that the authorities ensure justice for Maryam’s mourning family while treating the case with the appropriate sensitivity and care, especially considering the young age of the accused. We must join forces to create a safer and more emotionally nurturing environment for our children.
