CDA management to take action against illegal housing schemes
Islamabad:Top management of the Capital Development Authority (CDA) at a meeting on Monday ordered to take strict action against illegal housing schemes but decision was taken in case of societies, which have failed to start development work years after getting the layout plans approved.
The spokesman of CDA on Monday said that an important meeting was held at the CDA Headquarters under the chairmanship of the CDA Chairman Muhammad Ali Randhawa. The meeting was attended by CDA board members, DG Planning, DG Special Projects, Deputy Commissioner Islamabad, Deputy DG Enforcement, Director DMA, Director Admin, ICT, and other officers. During the meeting, it was decided to take legal action against illegal housing/cooperative societies in Islamabad in accordance with the law.
There have been complains that in the past, the planning wing of CDA approved layout plans of a number of housing schemes allowing them to sale files of their plots. However, the housing schemes were not bound to start any development activity.
At Monday's meeting, it was decided to publish details of illegal housing societies in newspapers so that the public can be fully informed about the legal status of any housing society before their investment. This information can also be verified through the CDA’s Planning Wing and the CDA website regarding the status of legal and illegal housing societies in Islamabad, the CDA spokesman said. Additionally, the meeting decided to take legal action against housing and cooperative societies involved in the illegal transfer of plots, particularly those that fail to deposit the transfer fee of plots to CDA. It was further decided to impose a ban on the sale of construction materials to illegal housing and cooperative societies.
The meeting also resolved that construction material dealers must verify the approved layout plan and NOC (No Objection Certificate) of a housing society before selling any construction materials. Legal action will be taken against those who supply construction materials to illegal housing societies.
