Toshakhana-II case: Judge expresses anger over absence of Bushra Bibi
Court expressed anger over Bushra Bibi’s move and remarked that accused was being given a chance
RAWALPINDI: Special Judge Central Shahrukh Arjumand, in the Toshakhana II reference, has adjourned the hearing of the case till June 3, giving Bushra Bibi, the wife of former PTI chairman, a chance to appear.
During the hearing in Adiala jail on Saturday, Bushra Bibi refused to come to the courtroom in protest. The court ordered the jail authorities to bring Bushra Bibi. The jail authorities told the court that Bushra Bibi had refused to come to the court, saying that she would not go to the court because she was not allowed to meet the former chairman on Tuesday.
On this, the court waited for 3 and a half hours but Bushra Bibi did not come. Due to the absence of the accused, the statements of 4 witnesses could not be recorded.
The court expressed anger over Bushra Bibi’s move and remarked that the accused was being given a chance. If she does not come to the next hearing, orders will be issued to cancel the bail in this case.
On this occasion, Special Prosecutor Zulfiqar Abbas Naqvi, while insisting on the cancellation of Bushra Bibi’s bail due to her deliberate absence, took the position that the court should exercise its powers and proceed with the hearing of the case without the accused.
However, the court gave Bushra Bibi an opportunity to appear and adjourned the hearing of the case until June 3.
