Three dacoits killed in ‘encounter’
LAHORE:In Chuhng area, officials of Crime Control Department (CCD) gunned down three suspected dacoits during an armed confrontation on Thursday.
Reportedly, the CCD officials tried to halt five suspects who were moving on two motorcycles towards Multan Road, but they opened fire on the cops. When the firing was retaliated, the cops found three bodies of the dacoits who were reportedly killed by the firing of their accomplices, who fled the scene.
Bodies of the suspects were moved to morgue via Edhi ambulances. Police also recovered illegal weapons and other suspicious items from the scene. According to initial investigations, the deceased were involved in a robbery and sexually assault incident.
2,280 beggars held in 5 months
Lahore Police have arrested 2,280 beggars in five months. According to a Lahore Police spokesman, some 2,255 beggars have been booked during last five months. The spokesman said the police detained 2,168 men, 100 women and 12 facilitators.
The CCPO stated that cases would be registered against professional beggars who force children to beg. The CCPO said the platforms of the Child Protection and Welfare Bureau along with the Social Welfare Department would be used for the rehabilitation of underage beggars.
