LAHORE : A solemn annual seminar was held at Alhamra Arts Council in memory of Captain Salman Sarwar Shaheed, recipient of Sitara-e-Basalat, marking his martyrdom anniversary.

The theme of the seminar was: "The death of a martyr is the life of a nation." Captain Salman Sarwar embraced martyrdom on May 14, 2013, while bravely fighting terrorists in Waziristan.

His sacrifice remains a symbol of national pride and valor. The chief guest of the ceremony was Former Punjab Governor Lt General (R) Khalid Maqbool. The event saw the enthusiastic participation of families of martyrs from across the country. The ceremony began with the recitation of the Holy Quran and Naat-e-Rasool Maqbool, performed by Hasnain Mazhari.

Speakers paid glowing tributes to the services and sacrifices of the Pakistan Armed Forces in defending the nation. Attendees offered heartfelt prayers and tearful tributes to the martyrs. Notable speakers included SP Mansoor-ul-Hassan, Prof. Sabir Hussain, Prof. Shehnaz Malhi, and veteran Maqeem from the East Pakistan Civil Armed Forces.

The chief guest, Gen Khalid Maqbool, described Pakistan’s victories in just causes as the result of national faith, unity, and unshakable resolve.

"The spirit of sacrifice and martyrdom makes our nation invincible," he declared.

He also praised the national leadership of May 28, who boldly announced Pakistan's nuclear capability despite global pressure, calling it a historic moment of courage and conviction. Renowned singer Abrar-ul-Haq recited verses by Allama Iqbal with emotional fervor. Additionally, Ali Abbas, Nadeem Abbas Shahzada, and Zohaib Hassan performed a patriotic anthem, stirring patriotic sentiments among the audience.

Families of martyrs also addressed the gathering, expressing pride and gratitude for the nation’s recognition of their loved ones’ sacrifices. The event was gracefully hosted by Riaz Khan and Muneezeh Moeen.

This blessed annual event is organised in Lahore every year by Imtiaz Sarwar, father of Captain Salman Sarwar Shaheed.
