Youm-e-Takbeer event at LGH: ‘Nuclear tests a clear message to world’

LAHORE : Lahore General Hospital (LGH) organised a dignified ceremony to mark Youm-e-Takbeer on Wednesday.

The ceremony saw enthusiastic participation from Principal of Ameer Uddin Medical College (AMC) Prof Dr Farooq Afzal, MS Prof Faryad Hussain, Dr Salman Shakeel, Dr Junaid, and Vice Principal of Nursing College Ms Shahnaz Dar, Dr Laila Shafiq, Dr Abdul Aziz as well as a large number of doctors, nurses and paramedical staff.

A cake cutting ceremony was also held in this regard and participants raised spirited slogans in support of the Pakistan armed forces.

Addressing the ceremony, Principal AMC Prof Dr Farooq Afzal stated that on May 28, 1998, Pakistan sent a clear message to the world by conducting nuclear tests that the nation’s defence is unassailable and that Pakistan stands ever ready to respond decisively to any aggression. He added that the credit for these nuclear tests goes to the former PM Nawaz Sharif who upheld national interests despite immense international pressure.

Prof Farooq Afzal further remarked that in the recent brief conflict with India, the Pakistan armed forces and the nation as a whole forced the adversary into a state of shock, compelling a ceasefire.

He described Youm-e-Takbeer as a day symbolising national pride, unparalleled courage, and valor a stern warning to any hostile forces that aggression against Pakistan will have dire consequences.

MS Prof Faryad Hussain stated that May 28 is not only a declaration of the nation's unwavering resolve but also a testament to its defensive capabilities, perseverance, and sacrifices. He pointed out that this day landmark in Pakistan’s journey in science, technology and defence which is a symbol of national sovereignty, security and stability.

On this occasion glowing tributes were paid to Dr Abdul Qadeer Khan, scientists, engineers, technicians, the Pakistan armed forces and all political leaders who played a vital role in making Pakistan a nuclear power.

Speakers acknowledged the vital contributions of individuals who played a pivotal role in making Pakistan a nuclear power, emphasising that the nuclear tests significantly strengthened Pakistan’s defence. They said that Youm-e-Takbeer is a day of national pride for the entire Muslim Ummah as Pakistan emerged as the first Islamic nuclear state, a status that brings immense pride to the nation.
