Protest continues in N Waziristan over deadly bomb attack
MIRANSHAH: The relatives of victims of a deadly bomb attack in North Waziristan’s Mir Ali subdivision continued their protest for the third consecutive day on Wednesday.
The protest began after a tragic incident in the village of Hormuz, where a house was targeted in a bomb attack that killed four children and injured five others, including a woman and more children. All victims belong to the same family.
The demonstrators, who have placed the bodies of the deceased in front of Mir Ali Cantonment, are demanding justice and accountability.District Police Officer (DPO) Waqar Ahmed said that negotiations were ongoing with the protesters to resolve the situation.
The protest has garnered the support of tribal elders, religious scholars, political groups, and Member of National Assembly (MNA) Mufti Misbahuddin, who have joined the sit-in to express solidarity with the victims’ families.
Mufti Baitullah, spokesperson for the protesters, stated that the first round of talks with district authorities ended without any resolution. However, a second round of negotiations is scheduled to take place at the Governor’s Cottage in Miranshah today.
District Police Officer Waqar Ahmed confirmed the meeting and said that representatives from the district administration, security forces, and police will participate.
