2,800 encroachments removed
LAHORE:The District Administration of Lahore has successfully removed 2,800 illegal encroachments across the city as part of an ongoing grand operation to restore Lahore's beauty.
The extensive campaign, supervised by Chief Officer Metropolitan Corporation Lahore Shahid Abbas Kathia, was carried out by Metropolitan Officer Regulation Kashif Jalil and his teams in more than 15 key areas including Anarkali, Urdu Bazaar, Wagah Town, and Johar Town.
A substantial number of unauthorised banners, posters, and streamers were also removed during the operation, while 27 lorries of materials were confiscated. According to DC Lahore, the elimination of these encroachments has not only restored the city's aesthetic appeal but has also significantly improved traffic flow throughout the metropolis.
Metropolitan Officer Regulation Headquarters Kashif Jalil has emphasised that the operation will continue impartially with no exceptions granted to anyone. Deputy Commissioner Lahore Syed Musa Raza stated that the Chief Minister Punjab's special interest has accelerated efforts to make Lahore encroachment-free and to develop the city in line with its historical status. He expressed his determination to completely rid Lahore of encroachments and affirmed that the District Administration's effective efforts will continue to maintain order and discipline in the city.
Meanwhile, on the instructions of DG LDA Tahir Farooq, the LDA Town Planning Wing was active against illegal commercial buildings, commercial fee defaulters’ properties. LDA teams sealed 71 properties in various schemes and LDA controlled areas and demolished several illegal structures. LDA teams operated in Jubilee Town, Gulberg, Faisal Town, Shadman, Shah Jamal, UBD Canal Road, Gulshan Ravi, New Muslim Town.
Director Town Planning Zone Five, Shafqat Niaz Kang took action against illegal structures in Canal Road and Jubilee Town. Illegal shutters and illegal structures were demolished in Jubilee Town, F Block. Illegal commercial market was demolished on Canal Road.
