The case of the alleged abduction of a first-year college student from Karachi’s Jauharabad locality has taken an unexpected turn. The missing girl, Fiza Saleem, was found and brought back to Karachi from Hyderabad by her fiancé, raising questions if it was a genuine abduction.

Police said they are still investigating whether the incident was an actual kidnapping or staged by the girl herself. Officials revealed that Fiza’s fiancé brought her to Karachi from Hyderabad but delayed informing the police.

Throughout the episode, police were kept completely in the dark. The FIR of the girl’s abduction was registered on May 19 at the Jauharabad police station on the complaint of her brother.

After she went missing, Fiza reportedly messaged her family, claiming that unidentified individuals had abducted her. During a phone conversation she gave conflicting statements. She initially said she was kidnapped by people in a high-roof van, with some other girls also present. She later claimed that since she was unable to reach her brother, she contacted her fiancé instead and informed him of her location in Hyderabad.

She allegedly made the call using a rickshaw driver’s phone. Police said Fiza did not approach any police station in Hyderabad but instead reunited with her fiancé and returned to Karachi on her own.

When the family and police were preparing to travel to Hyderabad to recover her, they were informed that she had already arrived in Karachi. Due to the inconsistencies in her statements, police are now investigating all aspects of the case. A senior official said the police are looking into every possible angle of the case to determine whether this was truly an abduction or a staged disappearance.
