Pakistan explores SpaceX partnership for digital push

KARACHI: Pakistan’s Ambassador to the US Rizwan Saeed Sheikh recently visited SpaceX headquarters in Los Angeles, exploring potential collaborations on Starlink satellite internet and broader space technologies. The visit highlights Pakistan’s drive to enhance digital connectivity and foster innovation through international partnerships.

Sheikh, accompanied by Consul General Asim Ali Khan and other officials, received a briefing on ongoing discussions aimed at leveraging Starlink’s low-Earth orbit satellite infrastructure and SpaceX’s commercial capabilities. The focus was on expanding broadband access and strengthening national connectivity, particularly in remote and underserved regions of Pakistan.

SpaceX officials, including the vice president of Starlink Global Business Operations and the director of Global Business Development, welcomed the Pakistani delegation and discussed how their technologies could support Pakistan's digital transformation.

During a guided tour of the SpaceX facility, the delegation gained insights into the company’s advancements in space and telecommunications. Sheikh highlighted the “transformative potential” of Starlink services in bridging Pakistan’s digital divide and reiterated the nation’s commitment to “innovation-led development” through strategic alliances.
