LAHORE:A ceremony was held at Livestock Department for the distribution of motorbikes among the para-veterinary staff under the vision of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz.

Minister for Livestock and Agriculture Ashiq Hussain Kirmani participated as the chief guest and distributed 3,412 bikes among para-veterinary staff. Addressing the ceremony, the minister said that a total of 7,000 motorbikes will be provided to the para-veterinary staff in two phases, with 3,412 motorbikes being distributed in the first phase on Tuesday. The minister stated that Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif generously approved funds to meet the transportation and motorcycle needs of the para-vets. Through this initiative, they will be able to obtain motorcycles on interest-free, easy monthly installments, he said, adding para-vets play a vital role in providing timely vaccination and care to livestock owned by farmers in remote areas.

He noted that for the first time in history, the CM allocated Rs20 billion for the Livestock Department in her government’s first budget last year. The design of the motorbikes was developed in consultation with the para-vets, he said and emphasised that these new bikes will enhance the operational capacity of the Livestock Department. He highlighted that during the current government’s tenure, 2,000 livestock officers and staff have been promoted.

‘For the first time in history, a performance evaluation system has been introduced to assess the work of Livestock Department officers and staff. Under this system, employees who achieve their targets within the given timeframe will be eligible for promotions and rewards,’ the minister said. He also acknowledged the efforts of para-vets in the timely control of FMD (Foot and Mouth Disease) and noted that not a single case of Lumpy Skin Disease has been reported in Punjab. Later, the provincial minister distributed motorbike keys among the para-veterinary staff.
