Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) Chairperson Senator Rubina Khalid engaged in a comprehensive discussion with Sindh Chief Secretary Syed Asif Hyder Shah at the latter’s office on Monday to strengthen collaboration and enhance the efficacy of the BISP in the province.

The meeting deliberated on pivotal aspects, including enhanced security and logistics at BISP payment centres to ensure seamless disbursement of funds to deserving beneficiaries. They also focused on ensuring joint investigations by the provincial government and BISP staff to promptly address grievances and complaints arising during payments to eligible women.

The meeting explored the possibility of allocating suitable government land for the establishment of BISP offices across the province, facilitating efficient service delivery and outreach to beneficiaries.

They also discussed the inclusion of BISP beneficiary women in the provincial government’s proposed housing project, aimed at providing affordable housing solutions to vulnerable segments.

The CS assured the senator of the provincial government’s commitment to supporting the BISP’s social protection initiatives. He emphasised that the government would continue to actively partner with the BISP to ensure the success of its programmes.

The senator appreciated the CS’s proactive approach and commitment to collaborative governance, underscoring the importance of inter-institutional coordination in driving socio-economic development and poverty alleviation in the province.

The meeting concluded on a positive note, with both sides expressing optimism about the potential for enhanced collaboration and impact in the lives of the most vulnerable populations in the province.
