JDW reach 124-4 on rain-affected day in President’s Trophy quarterfinal
LAHORE: JDW, the development side of Multan Sultans, finished at 124 for four in 41 overs on a rain-shortened first day of their President’s Trophy Grade-II quarterfinal against Railways at the Shoaib Akhtar Stadium on Monday.
Persistent overnight rain washed out the first two sessions, delaying the start of play until 3pm. Sent in to bat, JDW relied on steady contributions from Mohammad Zubair and captain Ali Imran, who anchored the innings with composed batting.
Zubair top-scored with 58, including 10 fours, while Ali Imran remained unbeaten on 43, striking a six and five fours. The pair added 63 runs for the second wicket, providing stability to the innings.
Haroon Arshad (3 not out) was the other not-out batsman and will resume JDW’s first innings alongside Ali Imran on Tuesday morning. For Railways, fast bowler Asad Ullah was the standout performer, claiming two wickets. JDW advanced to the quarterfinals from Pool B after winning three matches and securing first-innings leads in the other three.
