PESHAWAR: The educational institutions across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa arranged functions on Monday in connection with Yaum-e-Tashakkur (Thanksgiving Day) to express solidarity with the armed forces following the success in the Operation Bunyan-ul Marsoos against the Indian aggression.
Flag hoisting ceremonies, solidarity walks, speeches and cultural shows were arranged to mark the day. The university community rallied in support of the armed forces at Shaheed Benazir Bhutto Women University (SBBWU), Peshawar.
On the advice of Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Safia Ahmed, a solidarity walk led by Pro Vice Chancellor Dr. Farhat Amin followed a ceremonial flag hoisting. Dressed in traditional attire representing all provinces, SBBWU students symbolized national unity and denounced divisive propaganda.
A one-minute silence was observed across the campus in memory of those affected by Indian aggression. Students also participated in cultural and religious expressions of gratitude, including speeches, poetry recitations and digital poster exhibitions.
“We are proud of the armed forces who have lifted the nation’s morale through their valour. We stand united in support of their sacrifices and dedication,” said Vice Chancellor Dr Safia Ahmed.
Meanwhile, the University of Engineering and Technology (UET) Peshawar also observed Yaum-e-Tashakkur.Vice-Chancellor Dr. Sadiq Khattak led a flag hoisting ceremony attended by faculty, students, and staff.
In his address, he lauded the armed forces and both federal and provincial governments for their courage and resolve.“The success of Operation Bunyan-ul-Marsoos is a testament to the dedication and professionalism of our military,” Dr. Khattak said.
He highlighted the importance of unity and urged the academic community to remain steadfast in the cause of national development.The university also organized a solidarity walk, with participants chanting slogans such as “Pakistan Zindabad”, “Nara-e-Takbeer” and “Solidarity with Kashmir”.
