Corruption, lawlessness: PPP to launch ‘Save Province Campaign’ from 26th
PESHAWAR: The Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa chapter on Monday announced launching the “Save Province Campaign” from May 26 against the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government, citing rising corruption scandals worth billions of rupees and the worsening law and order situation.
PPP’s Deputy Information Secretary Gohar Inqalabi announced during a press conference at the Peshawar Press Club. He was accompanied by the founding leader of PPP Peshawar, Tahir Abbas, other PPP leaders, and leaders of the People’s Student Federation.
Inqalabi began the conference by congratulating the Pakistan Army for its decisive actions against India and paid tribute to former prime minister Zulfikar Ali Bhutto for making Pakistan a nuclear power and to Shaheed Benazir Bhutto for advancing missile technology. He also commended Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari for representing Pakistan globally.
Highlighting the alleged corruption in the PTI government, he said, “Unfortunately, the PTI government, now in its third term in the province, is involved in massive corruption. In the past, we witnessed the Malam Jabba and BRT scandals, yet accountability institutions remained silent. Now, the corruption scandals have increased manifold, involving trillions of rupees.”
The PPP leader added that ministers and advisers within the PTI government are accusing each other of corruption, further revealing the extent of internal discord. “This clearly shows that everyone in this game is equally involved,” he said.
Inqalabi called on accountability institutions to take action against the PTI government and urged the federal government to initiate investigations against provincial leaders involved in corruption.
Commenting on the law and order situation, he stated, “Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur should focus on maintaining peace in the province and struggle for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s rights at the federal level. “Instead, he is busy looting the province and filling his own pockets, “ alleged the PPP leader.
He pointed to the worsening law and order situation in the tribal districts, particularly the southern regions, where police stations were allegedly shut at night, leaving residents vulnerable to criminal elements.
Inqalabi accused the federal government of completely neglecting KP, leaving the province without any attention or support.Responding to a question, he said PPP would also include 16,000 employees laid off by the PTI government in its movement, urging them to join the protest.“On May 26, we will stage a massive protest outside the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly and bring the corrupt rulers to the public court,” he declared.
