Sadaf’s five-for powers Challengers to victory over Stars
KARACHI: In Friday’s matches of the National Women’s T20 Tournament, the Challengers and Strikers registered victories. At the National Bank Stadium, Challengers defeated Stars by 5 wickets. Batting first, Stars posted 108 runs for 9 wickets, with Kainat Hafeez top-scoring with 48 runs. Sadaf Shams was the standout bowler, claiming 5 wickets for 17 runs, while Rabia Rani took 3 wickets.
Challengers chased down the target of 109 runs in the final over, finishing at 109 for 5. Aliya Riaz remained unbeaten on 48 and was the top-scorer, with Rameen Shamim contributing an unbeaten 28 runs.
Anosha Nasir claimed 3 wickets for Stars. Sadaf Shams was named Player of the Match for her match-winning bowling spell. At the Oval Academy Ground, Strikers defeated Invincibles by 7 wickets. Invincibles, batting first, scored 143 for 5, with captain Muneeba Ali top-scoring with 67 runs.
Strikers chased down the target in the 18th over with 3 wickets down, thanks to a remarkable unbeaten 74-run knock by Iman Fatima, which included 10 fours and 2 sixes. Gul Feroza supported with 49 runs, and the pair added 105 runs for the third wicket. Iman Fatima was awarded Player of the Match for her brilliant performance.
