‘Day of Gratitude’ being observed today
LAHORE:The nation will observe Friday (today) as a Day of Gratitude to celebrate Pakistan’s glorious victory over India in the battle for truth.
The Punjab Home Department has directed provincial administrations to finalise preparations for the observance. The day will be marked across Punjab with enthusiasm, national unity, and a pledge to honour the martyrs.
Like the rest of the country, the day will commence with gun salutes in Punjab. Quran recitations and collective prayers will be held in all major mosques after Fajr prayers. Prayer gatherings and thanksgiving ceremonies will be organised at the district and divisional levels. A central event will be held at 7pm in Lahore, with participation from families of martyrs and prominent figures from all walks of life.
Additionally, wreath-laying ceremonies at martyrs' memorials will take place at provincial, divisional, and district levels, attended by civil society, local representatives, and senior civil and military officials. Government and private buildings, offices, and key roads will be decorated with national flags and illuminations. Flag hoisting ceremonies will be held in educational institutions, and special Friday sermons will highlight the spirit of gratitude. The Punjab Home Department has directed all law enforcement agencies to ensure foolproof security arrangements at all events.
