Dussen, Hales to strengthen United in remaining PSL X matches
ISLAMABAD: Rassie van der Dussen and Alex Hales return to the Islamabad United team for the remaining Pakistan Super League (PSL) X matches, starting with their make-or-break outing against Karachi Kings on Monday at the Rawalpindi Stadium.
Hales was an integral part of United during the previous campaigns. His inclusion is considered as a big boost to the defending champions. Islamabad United has always been very close to my heart. They were the first PSL team I played for in Pakistan, and the support I’ve received from the fans and the franchise has been incredible throughout.
When they signed me back in April, I was really looking forward to joining up with the squad for the latter stages of the tournament. With the change in PSL dates, I’ve had to reshuffle a few commitments, but I’m absolutely thrilled to be back in Pakistan playing in Red. Hopefully, I can contribute and help the team push for another title, Hales said ahead of its joining the team.
Meanwhile, Islamabad United expressed delight in welcoming South Africa’s star batter Rassie van der Dussen for the remainder of HBL PSL X engagements. “A world-class player with a stellar record across formats, Rassie’s presence adds immense value to the Pakistan Super League,” Islamabad United, in a handout, says.
Dussen’s professionalism, consistency, and global stature make him one of the most respected batters in the modern game. We’re thrilled to have him back.” United says. Islamabad United has left it to the foreign players to decide on their return to play the remaining PSL X matches.
“As we prepare to resume PSL, foreign player participations have been discussed, and whether/which foreign players will return. Let me say that upfront, we should let each player decide on their own, respect their decisions, and should not be judging players on whether they return to complete the rest of the PSL or not. Last week was a stressful time for everyone, and especially for those who were in a foreign land (in Pakistan or India); and hence should decide based on their own circumstances. Regardless of their decision to participate, we are thankful to all foreign players for their participation in this/previous seasons and look forward to welcoming them again in future seasons,” team owner Ali Naqvi, said.
“A big thanks to the PCB/PSL and Franchises management teams for planning the rescheduling process effectively during the most unpredictable time last week, which includes locking in Dubai as an alternative spot and arranging the seamless exit of foreign players. A job effectively managed and executed.”
“To all players of the United Family, especially foreign players (of ISLU and other teams as well) who remained resolute during the last week and exhibited a great deal of perseverance and grit during the process. A big thank you to all of you as well.”
