Elderly man’s body found with torture marks
LAHORE:body of a 70-year-old man, bearing signs of torture, was discovered in an abandoned car in Nawab Town on Tuesday.
An Edhi Foundation spokesperson stated that locals alerted authorities after noticing a foul smell emanating from a vehicle parked in a vacant plot. Police promptly transferred the body to a hospital for examination. The deceased was identified as Jaan M Anwar, a resident of Green Acres. According to police, he had left his home two days earlier to visit a nearby market and had not returned.
Burglars’ gang busted; three held
Iqbal Town Investigations Police busted a burglars’ gang and arrested its three key members. According to police, the arrested suspects included the gang leader Taj Din alias Taji and his accomplices Allah Rakha and M Saeed. The trio allegedly broke into a house by scaling a wall in the absence of the residents and stole a substantial amount of cash, foreign currency, licenced weapons, jewellery, batteries, and other valuables. During interrogation, the suspects confessed to several similar crimes in City. Johar Town Police traced and solved a burglary case at an elderly woman’s residence within hours of the incident, arresting a habitual criminal and recovering the stolen items.
The accused, identified as Shah Nawaz, is a repeat offender with a criminal history and has previously served multiple jail terms. Police recovered the stolen items and registered cases.Shafiqabad Police arrested four gangsters. According to a police spokesperson, the police detained accused Gul Abbas, Rashid, Nathan Bawar Masih, and Sohail and recovered a pickup truck, two stolen motorcycles, more than 15 dismantled motorcycle parts, mobile phones, cash, weapons, and multiple master keys from the accused. The suspects belong to a gang operating across the city. Their modus operandi involved roaming neighborhoods and marketplaces to identify unattended motorcycles, which they would then unlock and steal using master keys.
10 die on road in 24 hours
Around 10 people died, whereas 1,552 were injured in 1,329 road accidents in all districts of Punjab during the last 24 hours. Out of these, 643 people with serious injuries were shifted to different hospitals, while 909 victims with minor injuries were treated at the incident site by Rescue medical teams.
