Sindh cabinet’s finance body reviews financial challenges, approves key projects
Minister for Energy and Planning Syed Nasir Hussain Shah chaired a meeting of the Sindh Cabinet's Finance Subcommittee on Monday, where financial challenges faced by various provincial institutions were reviewed and proposals for their resolution were discussed.
Minister for Interior, Law, and Parliamentary Affairs Zia-ul-Hassan Lanjar also attended the meeting. During the session, Shah announced the decision to solarise Cadet College Petaro at a cost of Rs250 million. He stated that the initiative aimed to ensure an uninterrupted power supply to support students' education and training, providing them with a peaceful and conducive learning environment.
The committee, based on its recommendations, approved Rs885 million for Phase II of the Karachi Water and Sewerage Services Improvement Project (KWSSIP). Shah and Lanjar emphasised that, in line with the vision of Pakistan Peoples Party Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and the directives of the Chief Minister of Sindh, the finance subcommittee had been formed to accelerate the completion of development projects and provide timely relief to the public by removing bureaucratic and financial obstacles. They stressed that all decisions were made through consensus, following thorough review and in accordance with legal procedures. Additionally, the committee approved funding for the Malir Water Supply Scheme and various ongoing USAID-supported programmes, with a focus on ensuring their timely completion.
