MANSEHRA: The city and its suburbs experienced a suspension of natural gas supply for over six hours on Saturday after a loaded truck crashed into a main gas supply plant, causing it to burst.
“The truck driver lost control over steering after its brakes failed and rammed into the roadside gas supply plant,” Sheikh Ghafoor, an employee at a local CNG station, told reporters.
The truck, en route to Gilgit-Baltistan from Rawalpindi, struck the Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) plant around 5 am outside Ghazikot Township on the Karakoram Highway.
Hotels and restaurants operating on liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) cylinders saw a rush of residents looking for tea and bread due to the sudden gas outage.
