PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Services Tribunal has upheld the appointment of Dr Inayatullah Safi as district specialist (Surgery) at Tehsil Headquarters Hospital, Dargai, Malakand.
The tribunal dismissed an appeal filed by Dr Syed Adil Shah challenging the appointment.Dr Safi was represented by Advocate Khalid Rehman, while the provincial government was represented by the assistant advocate general. The case was heard by the Services Tribunal Chairman, Barrister Ikhtiar Khan, along with Judicial Member Aurangzeb Khattak.
The counsel for the appellant, Dr Syed Adil Shah, argued that his client, a Grade-18 Senior Medical Officer, had been appointed to the position of District Specialist on August 12, 2024. However, the appointment was withdrawn on August 27, 2024, and he was subsequently attached to the same post in what he termed an irregular arrangement.
He contended that Dr Safi, who was reappointed to the post, is only a Grade-17 Medical Officer and therefore ineligible for the Grade-18 position, asking the tribunal to declare the order null and void.
