Cabinet committee flays Indian aggression
LAHORE:A meeting of Cabinet Committee on Law and Order has condemned Indian aggression and stressed coordination of all departments in the wake of tensions.
The 27th meeting of Chairman Cabinet Committee on Law and Order (SCCLO) was held at the Home Department under the chairmanship of Minister for Health and Chairman Cabinet Committee on Law and Order Khawaja Salman Rafique. The meeting was attended by Ministers Malik Sohaib Ahmed Bharat, Bilal Akbar Khan and Syed Ashiq Hussain Kirmani through video link. During the meeting, a detailed review of the latest law and order situation across the province was taken in the context of the current situation in the country.
The Secretary Home Punjab, Secretary Emergency Services Department and law enforcement agencies gave a briefing. The meeting strongly condemned India’s targeting of innocent and defenseless children and women and other citizens.
During the meeting, emphasis was placed on coordination of all departments and coordination of operations. The Cabinet Committee allowed the purchase of important protective equipment for civil defence. The Cabinet Committee approved the release of 4 prisoners on parole. The Cabinet Committee approved funds of Rs37 million to increase the capacity of the Punjab Forensic Science Agency.
Minister for Health and Chairman Cabinet Committee on Law and Order Khawaja Salman Rafique said that nothing is more important to us than the security of Pakistan.
‘The Pakistan Army shot down 25 Indian drones on May 8. On the instructions of the Chief Minister of Punjab, mock training exercises of civil defence, rescue and police are underway. Thousands of students and citizens were trained in civil defense in one day. The Pakistani people stand by their government and army. ‘Representatives of all relevant agencies are monitoring the entire province 24 hours a day from the central control room of the Home Department,’ the minister said and added that the availability of medicine stocks and health professionals in government hospitals is being ensured.
The protection of people's lives and property is the top priority of the state, he said. The meeting was attended by Punjab Home Secretary Noorul Amin Mengal, Secretary Emergency Services Department Punjab Dr Rizwan Naseer, Additional IG Punjab Chaudhry Sultan, Special Secretary Home Fazalur Rehman, CTD, Special Branch and officials from relevant agencies.
