India outplayed
India’s old game of cooked-up allegations and staged crises as a pretext to justify military aggression against Pakistan has been exposed. This irresponsible posturing, augmented by India’s hyperbolic media culture, risks driving the region into an abyss. India’s script is always the same: orchestrate a provocation, hype it up in subservient media outlets and then present itself as the victim while gearing up for military strikes. Pakistan’s reaction has been extraordinary in terms of restraint and strategic leadership. Instead of getting caught in New Delhi’s trap of escalation, Pakistan has moved ahead in diplomatic avenues and is placing evidence of Indian wrongdoing before the international community while upholding credible deterrence.
However, both countries have nuclear arsenals and missiles that can hit targets within minutes, so any major war threatens to have disastrous outcomes. The global community needs to see the trend of Indian provocation and act before crises instigated by them get out of hand.
