LAHORE : Under the banner of the All Pakistan Wapda Hydro Electric Workers Union (CBA), electricity workers observed 'Demands Day' nationwide and held a major rally at Bakhtiar Labour Hall, here. They urged the Prime Minister to halt the proposed privatisation of profitable Discos (Iesco, Gepco, Fesco), highlighting that Wapda supplies electricity at Rs5.50 per unit versus Rs50 by IPPs. Workers also demanded safer working conditions, lifting of the recruitment ban, and wage raises at par with ministers. Union leaders warned that they would hold a protest sit-in in Islamabad if their demands remained unmet.
