LAHORE : The Lahore District Administration has removed over 3,000 permanent and temporary encroachments from different areas of the City here Tuesday.

The operation was carried out by CO MCL Shahid Abbas Kathiya while DC supervised the overall activity. Shahid Abbas said the aim of the ongoing anti encroachment operation on daily basis was to make the city free from encroachments and reclaim public spaces for its citizens. The MCL teams, during the operation, have confiscated goods and materials associated with these illegal structures, filling a staggering 29 trucks. The scope of this grand operation extends across many of the city's busiest and most vital commercial hubs, as well as various residential areas.

Significant actions have been taken in densely populated commercial zones such as Anarkali, Urdu Bazaar, and Shah Alam Market. In addition, encroachments obstructing traffic flow on crucial arteries like Mall Road, GT Road, and College Road have also been targeted and removed. Similar operations have been conducted in areas including Misri Shah, Mochi Gate, Sabzazar, Niaz Town, and Jubilee Town, demonstrating the widespread nature of the drive. The administration has also initiated strict legal proceedings against those involved in serious violations. Two cases have been formally registered in response to severe instances of encroachment, underlining the commitment to enforcing the law.
