PU to set up alumni fund for needy students, says VC

LAHORE : Punjab University (PU) Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Muhammad Ali has said that PU would establish department-wise alumni endowment fund to help needy students through scholarships. He was addressing the 11th graduation ceremony of Punjab University College of Pharmacy. On this occasion, Punjab Agriculture Food & Drug Authority Lahore DG Dr Talat Naseer Pasha, Dean Faculty of Pharmacy Prof Dr Muhammad Saleem, Principal College of Pharmacy Prof Dr Syed Atif Raza, faculty members, representatives of the pharmaceutical industry and students were present. In his address, Dr M Ali said that great names in the field of pharmacy were associated with PU. He said, 'we have to decide for what purpose education should be used; we have to fix our issues on our own as no one else will do it.'

GCU organises thespian Art Gala

The third annual Thespian Art Gala was held at Government College University (GCU) Lahore, uniting students from multiple universities to deliver impactful messages against drug abuse through the medium of performing arts.

The event was attended by Vice Chancellor Prof Dr M Omer Chaudhry, Regional Commander of Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) Punjab Brigadier Sikandar Hayat Chaudhry, and veteran actor Rashid Mehmood.

Addressing the audience, Brig Sikandar Hayat highlighted that drug addiction affects not only the individual but also their entire family.

He underscored the shared responsibility to protect youth from this growing threat and commended GCU’s Anti-Narcotics Society as a model initiative for awareness and prevention.

Prof Dr Omer Chaudhry said, 'Art is not merely a source of entertainment, but a powerful medium for social reform, and it is imperative to engage the youth in positive and constructive activities.'
