Saudi riyals seized, two held
MANSEHRA: The Federal Investigation Agency’s (FIA) Composite Circle on Tuesday arrested two suspects involved in illegal currency exchange and seized 186,775 Saudi riyals from their possession.
“We, in collaboration with the local police, arrested two suspects and seized the Saudi riyals from their possession,” Ziaul Islam, the station house officer of FIA’s Composite Circle Abbottabad, told reporters here.
He said the FIA team intercepted a car in the Baffa Doraha area and seized 186,775 Saudi riyals.
The suspects, Mohammad Sajjad and Mohammad Usman, both residents of Shinkiari, were taken into custody. Islam said the foreign currency was being smuggled from Peshawar via a car, and the operation was carried out on a tip-off. “The crackdown against illegal foreign currency trade is underway across the Hazara Division, and this is one of our recent successes,” he added.
The arrested suspects have been shifted to the FIA police station in Abbottabad.
A formal inquiry has been launched following registration of the FIR under the relevant sections of law.
