PESHAWAR: The Peshawar High Court Bar Association (PHCBA) and the District Bar Association Peshawar have condemned the rocket attack on the residence of Justice Muhammad Tariq Afridi of the Peshawar High Court (PHC) in Bannu, demanding the immediate arrest of those involved.

The condemnation was voiced at a meeting of the PHCBA, chaired by President Aminur Rehman Yousafzai and a separate meeting of the District Bar Association under the chairmanship of Advocate Qaiser Zaman.

The speakers termed the incident extremely unfortunate and highly condemnable.

According to separate statements issued on the occasion, the PHC judge was a former president of the PHCBA and a former member of the Pakistan Bar Council.

The attack was described as an assault on the judiciary, the rule of law, and the justice system. The bar associations called on law enforcement agencies to immediately arrest those involved in the attack and ensure they are given exemplary punishment under the law.

They urged the federal and provincial governments to develop a joint strategy to prevent such incidents in the future, ensuring complete protection for lawyers, judges, and court staff so they can perform their duties freely and without fear.
