PESHAWAR: Over 2,000 youths have completed training in various fields under the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government’s Youth Employment Programme. The fields included Artificial Intelligence, Game Development, Cloud Computing, Animation, and Web Development.

According to a handout, 180 youths also completed internships under the provincial Digital Internship Programme and have been onboarded in various IT companies and the Information Technology Board.

A certificate distribution ceremony for graduates was held here at the Chief Minister’s House in Peshawar, with Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Ali Amin Khan Gandapur attending as the chief guest.

The event was also attended by provincial cabinet members Meena Khan Afridi and Shafqat Ayaz, Chief Secretary Shahab Ali Shah, Secretary ST&IT Amjad Ali Khan, and other officials of the Information Technology Department, and students.

The chief minister distributed certificates among the students who completed the training.

It is worth mentioning that, under the Digital Internship Programme of the provincial government, over 2,200 young individuals have been linked with renowned IT companies, out of which 67 per cent have already secured employment.

Addressing the ceremony, the chief minister said it may not be possible for the government to provide public sector jobs to everyone, but it can at least create opportunities in the private sector.

He emphasized that the current era is dominated by information technology and offers countless employment opportunities. “Since day one, the government has been working under a comprehensive strategy to equip the youth with modern digital skills in the IT sector, with the sole purpose of training them under the demands of the job market,” added the chief minister. The chief minister said these young individuals are becoming a vital part of the province’s digital workforce and are playing an effective role in promoting the digital economy.

He said that with digital skills, youth can work online with clients and companies from any country in the world while staying at home.

“The government is investing in youth to make them self-reliant and a real asset to the nation,” Gandapur added.

The chief minister announced that the under-construction Digital City Project in Haripur will be completed by the end of this year.
