‘Modern education must to compete with other countries’

MULTAN: Senior politician and philanthropist Jahangir Khan Tareen has said that no nation can compete with developed countries without equipping its people with modern education.He said that providing advanced education to future generations was his life’s mission. Tareen said this while visiting the site where Amna Girls College was being constructed.

Tareen Education Foundation CEO Akbar Khan briefed him that the Amna Girls College project would cost Rs 700 million and was expected to be completed by August. Jahangir Khan Tareen directed to ensure that construction should be completed within the timeline. He also visited the Government Amna Girls School, operating under the Tareen Education Foundation, and inspected the classrooms, science lab and computer lab.

Jahangir Khan Tareen has personally allocated Rs 2.7 billion for the Amna Girls College and TICER University Lodhran projects.

Meanwhile, Jahangir Khan Tareen visited the Free Eye Camp organised by the Lodhran Pilot Project (LPP) where he reviewed the medical facilities being provided to the patients. The beneficiaries expressed satisfaction with the services and extended their gratitude to Tareen for his continued support.

LPP CEO Dr Abdul Saboor briefed Jahangir Tareen that the LPP had established 44 free eye camps so far, benefitting over 70,000 individuals with free medical check-ups, medicines and surgeries. He told that 426 patients were examined and 90 surgeries had been conducted at this ongoing camp alone.

Later, Jahangir Tareen visited the under construction building of the Tareen Institute of Computer Education and Resources (TICER) to inspect progress on the project.

Akbar Khan, CEO of the Tareen Education Foundation, shared that the IT University was being built at a cost exceeding Rs 2 billion and was expected to be completed by August this year.Jahangir Khan Tareen said that his mission was to serve humanity while provision of quality healthcare and education facilities were his top priorities. During the visit, Jahangir Tareen also laid the foundation stone of a mosque at the TICER campus.

First ‘Nawaz Sharif School of Eminence’ to be established in Jalalpur Pirwala: The Punjab’s first ‘Nawaz Sharif School of Eminence’ will be established in Jalalpur Pirwala, officials said on Monday.

The school would be established on the instructions of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz to provide quality education in backward areas.This milestone of partnership is done between the Punjab Education Foundation and the Multan District Health Authority.

Speaking at a ceremony, Commissioner Amir Karim Khan said that the Nawaz Sharif School of Eminence was a project that reflects the education-friendly vision of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz. The Jalalpur Pirwala Public School was planned to be renovated and students would be educated on modern lines, he told.

He said that along with science and arts, the Matriculation Tech option would also be available in modern education. He said that the administration had decided to expand the limited use of the extensive infrastructure of the school where only 50 students and five teachers were enrolled.

PEF Managing Director Shahid Farid said that quality education and modern facilities would be ensured at the Nawaz Sharif School of Eminence. The government had decided construction of 300 Nawaz Sharif Schools of Eminence across Punjab, a harbinger of educational revolution, he added.

MPAs Nazq Karim Long and Lal Muhammad Joyia, Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Ali Bukhari and Assistant Commissioner Zulfiqar Ali Khan were also present. ‘Rescue 1122 Multan district responded to 10,756 emergencies’: Rescue 1122 Multan District Emergency Officer Dr Hussain Mian has said that the emergency service responded to 10,756 emergencies and rescued 11,141 victims in April.

Speaking at a briefing here on Monday, Dr Hussain said that Rescue 1122 remained fully engaged in responding to emergencies round the clock in minimum time and provided relief to citizens. He told that the average response time of Rescue 1122 Multan was less than 7 minutes. The emergency service provided relief in 2,661 traffic accidents, 221 fire incidents, 294 crime emergencies, 7 building collapses and 6,487 medical emergencies, including heart attack, respiratory diseases, wounds etc, he told.

In all these 10,756 emergencies, 4,434 victims were shifted to hospitals while 6,223 persons were given first aid on the spot, he informed. He said that 292 patients were safely shifted from one hospital to another for better treatment on the instructions of doctors. Furthermore, he added, Rescue 1122 Multan setting a great example of services also rescued 22 animals and provided medical aid to them.

Rescue 1122 Multan District Emergency Officer Dr Hussain Mian said that 47,517 calls were received in the month of April and out of them, only 10,756 were emergency calls so all citizens should show responsibility and dial 1122 only in case of emergency.
