Pakistan slips in latest ICC rankings across all formats
LAHORE: The International Cricket Council (ICC) has released its annual team rankings, updating the standings across Test, ODI, and T20I formats.
The rankings factor in matches played since May 2024 at full value, with older results weighted lower, leading to significant shifts in the global rankings. Pakistan currently ranks seventh in ICC Men’s Test Team Rankings, reflecting a challenging period for the team as they aim to climb back up the table.
In ODI cricket, Pakistan has slipped to fifth, losing ground as Sri Lanka leapfrogged both Pakistan and South Africa, pushing South Africa to sixth place. The most concerning drop comes in the T20I rankings, where Pakistan has fallen to eighth, with Bangladesh and Afghanistan completing the top 10.
With rankings showing a downward trend, Pakistan will need consistent performances across formats to regain lost ground. Strong performances in upcoming international fixtures and strengthening squad depth could be crucial in Pakistan’s journey back into the top tiers of global cricket.
